So I have survived to the end of week #1 of being a remote worker. It’s only been 4 days but it’s been an interesting adaption during this time.
The beginning of the week was a bit odd as I was working from home but still taking my eldest to school and picking her up again at the end of the day.
I’ve been going for a run on the treadmill to try and keep active and to be honest it was working until yesterday.
I didn’t go out on Thursday.
I did no exercise on Thursday.
I started to struggle a bit.
I wanted to remedy that today (Friday) so forced myself to go for a run before starting work. It was about 5 mins shorter than my runs earlier in the week but it made such a large difference. I’ve had a good day today. Lots of video calls and generally been productive.
I’m really proud of all my friends and collegues at work during this time. We have a daily mid morning company wide video call which people can join if they want, as well as a lunch time video chat, just to try and keep some face to face contact with others. It’s working really well.
One of the scrum teams took “dress down Friday” a little too far today (maybe?). In their daily stand up they had Batman, Freddie Cruger and Donkey from Shrek to name a few participants. At least they’ve not lost their sense of humour yet!
We’ve also got a virtual pub quiz organised for Monday evening which I am, bizzarely, looking forward to. Various people are getting their better halves and family members involved. It should be fun!
Ready for the weekend though.
Keep safe!
